The impact of Gartner’s top 10 strategic technologies will not center only on the business — their capabilities will also increasingly become integral to future generations of management architecture, according to Gartner, Inc.
“We are already seeing the adoption of 'big data' within the IT and operations management [ITOM] industry. In particular, software-as-service [SaaS] management providers now have to collect and synthesize large volumes of data,” said Milind Govekar, managing vice president at Gartner. “We also expect more next-generation analytics to come to the forefront to address an increasingly hybrid cloud environment. On the social front, IT service desk social management tools will establish an interactive relationship with end users, enhance end-user productivity, provide a platform to share information and ideas, and market the value of IT to the business.”

HP Launches Envy Range Of Ultrabooks, Sleekbooks

HP has expanded its notebook portfolio with introduction of HP Envy range of ultrabook and sleekbooks.

The HP Envy Ultrabook, Envy 4 available in 14 -inch and Envy 6 available in 15.6-inch diagonal display sizes, includes 3rd generation Intel Core processors and offers up to eight or nine hours of battery life. The Ultrabook systems include an mSATA solid state drive along with Intel Rapid Start, Intel Identity Protection Technology, Intel Smart Response and Intel Smart Connect technologies.

Cloud Computing Makes Case For UPS Installation In Asia Pacific

According to Front and Sullivan, several projects that were deferred during the economic downturn are now getting off the ground, generating demand for UPS systems. The market is expected to recover fully by 2015, mainly due to governments' emphasis on cloud computing, green technology and smart grids.

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan, Asia-Pacific Uninterruptible Power Supplies Market, finds that the market earned revenues of $1.46 billion in 2011 and estimates this to reach $2.03 billion in 2017.

Red Hat Launches JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6

Red Hat has launched JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6 to help enterprises decrease time-to-market for application delivery and reduce operational costs.

JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6 is the run-time engine that drives Java workloads in Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat's platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering. It has an updated architecture that can be easily deployed in on-premise, private and public clouds.

Cisco adds 802.11ac, cloud features to new home router

Cisco's Linksys brand of home wireless networking routers today joined other vendors in coming out with 802.11ac equipment, as well as enabling a cloud-based platform for configuration and control of its "Smart Wi-Fi Routers."
The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router with AC (model EA6500) is a dual-band wireless router - the 802.11ac wireless will be on the 5-GHz band, while the 2.4-GHz band remains 802.11n. The router will be backwards compatible with 802.11n adapters, as well as 802.11b/g on the 2.4-GHz band. The unit will include two USB ports (for shared storage and printers), and will have four Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired clients. Cisco says the router will be available in early August at major retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, New Egg, Target and Walmart.

YouTube community worried by Google deal

After landing a $1.65 billion deal to sell their video sharing Web site to Google Inc., the co-founders of YouTube did the obvious: They posted a goofy, unrehearsed video, thanking the YouTube community for its support. But the cameraman poses a question to Chad Hurley, 29, and Steve Chen, 27, that goes unanswered: "What does [the deal] mean for the user community?"
